I'm sure you'll probably agree that we were all locked inside our house at the beginning of these challenging times and had to wear face masks every time we stepped outside.
But instead of getting fed up watching every tv show available on Netflix or binge-eating my recently-bought snacks, I decided to try and create a business.
But, what type of business, you might ask.
I'm guessing you're right!
Since everybody's wearing it, why not profit from it?
And that's the birth of my 'Mask' brand.
The first thing I need is, of course, a logo. I thought about making it myself using Photoshop or Illustrator, but I'm not good with those tools.

That's when I found out about online logo makers! I'll take you on my journey in creating a Masked Logo with Instant Logo Design.
How I Started my Brand
I started my mask-making business in response to the pandemic. I had always been interested in sewing and had dabbled in making clothes for myself and my family.
When the pandemic hit, I saw an opportunity to use my skills to make a difference. I started by making masks for my friends and family, and then I began selling them online.
I quickly realized that there was a massive demand for masks, and I was able to scale up my operation to meet the demand.
That's when I realized that I have to consider my original branding in competition with other masks-type businesses in the market.
But hiring a professional designer costs too much more than what I make monthly at the beginning of my full-fledged business.
I tried to design a logo alone, but I was just not satisfied. Good thing I was able to search and scroll through online suggestions and found Instant Logo Design, an online Ai-powered based logo maker that has helped me and my business thrive for almost a year now!
In just a few months, I went from making masks in my home to running a successful online business. I'm so glad that it did because starting my own business has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I love being my own boss and working on something I'm passionate about. At the same time, I love how I encourage more people to keep safe during this difficult time.
The process of creating a Mask Logo
The steps are pretty simple. I just head on to their website and type in my name. After a few seconds, there are almost endless results of ready-made logo templates available to edit, save, and download your logo.
But of course, I don't want mine to look like anyone else's. Good thing, there's an option to customize your logo designs, and that's what I did!
The Customization Dashboard
Everything seems pretty handy and simple when you first look at the dashboard. But little did I know that there are more features hidden that I can use to make my logo even better!
I read a blog about 'the new way to Customize Logo at Instant Logo Design!' Just precisely what I needed!
I like the colors, and the font style. It's neat, clean, and looks safe to me! But, I feel like many things are missing with the logo template I chose.
So, I tweaked it a bit and added the iconic mask logo. I decided to go with a person wearing a mask on a side view angle to make it more familiar and relatable.
But, even though there are specific aspects I like better, I decided to change them based on the suggestions made by Instant Logo.
The suggestions were placed on the left side of the dashboard, and you can quickly scroll through and click which ones you like best. As for me, I changed the font style, placement, and a bit of the font color as well (but nothing really looks different than the original).
If you click on each element, certain conditions allow you to manage your icon further.
After a few minutes, I settled for the final look of my masked logo, and I was pretty satisfied with it, considering I didn't have a graphic design degree or experience before.
All I have is the guts and values that I need to represent to my existing customers and new clients.
The Output
Tada…
I'm actually extremely happy with everything! The icon, the colors, layout, spacing, just everything.
It's something that I want my customers and prospects to remember, even if they just simply see my logo design wherever they go.
The borders, or what they labeled as 'containers,' even have the same shape as the type of mask we sew.
Plus, the quality of neatness and cleanness is there just by looking at it. The blue and white combination makes the overall look more perfect!
And just between the two of us, please don't mention anything weird and crazy about 'the bald person.' I think it makes our brand even more unique.
What Are My Thoughts
Overall, I think Instant Logo Design and other logo-maker tools are underrated. They offer so much more in a simple process yet affordable price!
This is a huge help, especially for startups who don't have much budget but are willing to adapt, create their own branding, and make a logo on their own.
However, there are a few setbacks that I observed, such as:
- Repetitive options. I believe some templates look or feel the same even if I keep hitting the 'see more logos' options. They are not entirely identical, but I'm a bit worried that some brands or businesses may use the same logo template that I selected.
- Doesn't have any leads for specific industries. The suggestions were a bit random. If I were to create a fashion brand, I would love to differentiate myself from some 'more' professional brands or careers like dentistry or even law. But Instant Logo doesn't really have the option you can choose to pick what industry or niche they must show.
But of course, there are certain features that stand out the most for me, including the:
- Simple and easy-to-use interface. There's no need for endless scrolling just to check what they offer. After you enter their website, the process starts right in front of the screen—no saturated elements and features.
- Loading Speed. I believe it's not the fastest, but definitely not the lowest as well. After discovering Instant Logo Design, I found other free logo makers out there. But, compared to ILD (yup, that's what I call it for short), they have too many steps, and loading takes much longer.
- Social Media Package. What is branding without any social media package? They offer a wide variety of features depending on the package you choose. As for my $99 worth of brand package, I was able to choose from a variety of file formats, backgrounds, business cards, and other logo freebies!
Overall, I would highly recommend Instant Logo and any other free logo maker for anyone starting their own business or brand who doesn't have much budget in their pocket.
Of course, it's not as personalized as the ones that professional graphic designers do. Yet, it's a good filler that will serve as a startup logo for those just starting in the market. And did I mean it being affordable?
You bet I did!
So, there you have it. A simple guide on how I could create my own mask logo without any help from a professional logo designer.
